So, hello and welcome to the paradox that is me. I'm a creative brain, an optimistc cynic, and an athletic nerd. I'm both a doer and a thinker, but I've never been a 'watcher' or a 'follower.' I always go my own way, even if it means taking the harder road, but so long as it is my road, it is worth traveling. I laugh a lot and I like making other people laugh too. I talk a lot, but I can't stand it if I feel I am being preachy or if I feel like I am dominating the conversation. I'm extremely social and outgoing, but I avoid hanging out with people who are overtly cliquish or don't have a mind of their own.

I'm a total video game playing, comic book reading nerd who loves dancing, medieval sword fighting, and anything outdoors. I really love to dance tango but I can also dance swing, salsa, mambo, and several other styles. I sing in the shower and I'm usually about as on key as an asphyxiated cat with a head cold; if it were an animated cat voiced by Louie Armstrong or Bill Medley after drinking sand it might even sound the same.

I'm a scientist from birth, but a writer at heart. Creative writing is my passion and through it I am able to channel all of my extensive knowledge and vivid imagination. It is what allows me to bridge that gap between art and knowledge. I really enjoy trying out new things not just as an artist and a writer, but as a person. I never gave up my inner child, he is still alive and well and with me. He makes life so much more fun. The eyes of a child look out and see a world of hope and wonder; even when that isn't always the case, sometimes it is nice to be able to believe in those kinds of things.

My writing professors have always told me to show not tell, but in case you missed the clues in all the previous text, I'm more than a little bit of a romantic.

I have realized that there are three main components which define my being, first is Astrobiology, second is Forensic Science, and lastly is Video Games. I will now take these interests and break them down to a point that I believe is most fitting. Firstly I have always been very adventurous and would constantly wander off and leave my parents in a panic when I was a kid, I believe this need for exploration fits pretty well with my interest in Astrobiology being as that field deals with trying to find life on extra-solar planets. I have been obsessed with playing video games when I was in high school and have always had an interest in building one. Now I am not terribly good with programming, although I did take many classes and have programmed my own games before, but it was always the need to create my own worlds that enticed me towards video games. One could also say that playing video games is a means to explore new worlds as well, and so we can make a faint connection between these two interests. Forensic Science is a science which focuses on the uniqueness of evidence! This I perceive as a desperate need to understand myself, but also to understand the world around me. Uniqueness is important in science as a means of clarification. When reading an NMR spectra, you are witnessing the coupling of the nucleus of the sample when placed in a magnetic field (two magnetic fields to be precise, a fixed magnetic field and a pulsing magnetic field) depending on your reading (C-13, H+, yadda yadda) Which gives you an interpretation of the uniqueness of the nuclei of your sample. Thus I believe my interest in Forensic Science establishes my deep need to Understand what I am experiencing throughout my life. This hypothesis can be even more radically reinforced by people constantly telling me that I think about things too much.

Therefore, I am going to restate my findings about myself, much like a scientific article would. All my interests can ultimately stem from my worlds that I create for myself, which are created through my need to explore, create, and understand. These basic needs are then re-intensified through my interests of Astrobiology, Video Game Design, and Forensic Science respectively.

I'm a cracker of a bloke living in Bakersfield near the rosedale area. I'm intelligent, lead a reasonably varied life all things considered, and am sometimes mistaken for bigfoot. I'm 6'4'' which is probably where I get the comparison.

Like most people, I spend most of my time oiling the wheels of the capitalist machine by working my ass off, but unlike most people I spend that time pulling people out of burning objects. When I'm not working or at school, I can usually be found going on random drives, taking part in ridiculous conversations with my friends and family, or at home watching movies or playing a game or two.

I love making people laugh and I'm very good at it. The only caveat with my sense of humor is that it is heavily contextual and more than a little bit sarcastic/cynical, so it's nearly impossible to put it across in a written paragraph like this without resorting to "why did the chicken cross the road? lol" and other similar "jokes". I can on occasion offend people with my jokes but if you get to know me you will observe that they are only discussed to achieve happiness to bitterness.

Recently moved to a new town and trying to make friends here. I'm always rushing to help people that could use an extra hand. I love to try new things, especially outdoor activities! I'm a third year student at UCSB, currently enrolled in the BFA Acting Program, and getting a Psychology degree while I'm at it. I may get a Philosophy minor, too. Other than classes, I rarely venture out of my residence. Computers these days can simulate almost anything, who needs reality? (yes, I'm aware of the brain in a jar argument, and no, I don't know how to respond to it) On a more serious note, I obviously can't spontaneously generate my own food, and I've recently discovered the awesomeness that is Trader Joe's. They have surprisingly good deals, and many specialized items that are hard to find elsewhere. I have actually traveled a fair amount with my family, though I've generally found the experiences to be physically taxing. My laziness aside, I probably should get more fresh air than I'm currently getting. Good scenery is hard to replicate with electronic devices, but the expenditures required to see it can easily feed me for months.

Though I claim to be a physicist, I don't always talk physics, because (surprise!) that can get boring eventually. It is often comical to speculate about politics/current events and how humanity is going to kill itself, among other things.

I am also trying to kick my 4chan addiction. It is an awesome website, but time is slipping by. I've managed to restrain myself from /jp/ and /b/, and now visit /an/ very rarely. I am still a regular on /sci/, for those who are aware of the existence of text boards.

I was always very introverted growing up and it wasn't until high school that I started to become more open and outgoing. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with me discovering anime. ^_^ I've always been a bit of a nerd; I love to read especially fantasy books, I'm a theater/theatre junkie, and I was also in choir for a couple of years.

I grew up in a Christian/Republican household so yes, I believe in God and I hate Obama and believe he is going to finish the destruction of the US economy. If you believe differently than I do, you don't need to worry about me shoving my beliefs down your throat; everyone is entitled to their own opinion. :) One of the ways I've managed to have so many friends is that I've learned to accept others' opinions and beliefs and to let sleeping dogs lie. Of my two best girl friends, one is a Wiccan and the other is Agnostic.

When I can afford to, I enjoy going to anime conventions and making new friends while catching up with old ones. Lately I've been improving my skills on Rock Band. I can now play guitar on hard and even drums on hard for certain songs ^_^ I'm always up to try new things- I've always wanted to go paint-balling, but never had the opportunity. I had a dirt bike when I was young- until I outgrew the little Honda 50 haha. I love games but I can't afford them so I lack skills lol. My friends have been teaching me to play Halo 3 but I'm still a novice >_< But I can still kick anyone's ass on N64 Mario Kart! xD

I grew up in Alaska and moved to California for school. I studied Human Development at UC Davis and moved down to Santa Barbara this year for a job. My interests include ballet, movies, reading, traveling, outdoors stuff and having fun with good friends.

I'm an easy-going guy who likes to make people laugh. I have tendency to be silly at times and not take myself too seriously. I sing and play guitar in a rock band and I've also been known to do some mean karaoke. I'm not religious, but I do believe that the love for money is the root of all evil - or at least just really lame. I can believe it's not butter so if it's processed and not made organically, I do what I can to keep it to a minimum. I believe that healthy relationships are equal and that good communication is the key to understanding each other as well as ourselves. I prefer being around people who are open-minded and comfortable interacting with people of different ethnic backgrounds, religion, gender, astrological signs, and/or favorite colors without becoming too critical or defensive about the differences. I find women to be the most attractive when they wear little or no make-up. I believe in equality of the sexes and all human beings for that matter. I love to travel and experience new things. In the last few years I've been to Hawaii, Peru, Taiwan, China, Thailand, and Japan. I prefer my exercise to consist of something fun like volleyball, racquetball, or tennis as opposed to doing something in-place indoors on a machine. I truly would like to believe that all of us have the capacity to grow and change for the better.

I'm a dorky girl. I collected Pokemon cards as a kid, grew up playing N64, and while I'm not an avid reader or watcher, I dabble in a few manga-reading and anime-watching when I have the spare time. I'm a homebody that doesn't mind going out and making adventures. I think it's all right to not talk and enjoy the silence. I'm more of a listener than a talker, but I'm not reserved with my laughter. I'll be social dancing well into my seventies, eighties, and nineties. Oh, and I'm very liberal-minded.

I am a third year student at University of California, Santa Barbara. I am pursuing my dream of becoming a marine biologist and having an awesome time with it. I'm competitive and sensitive, it gets to be a hassle. I can be sarcastic at times. I will most often be cool with you and support your crazy ideas, and usually help you with them. I love snowboarding, it's my favorite activity. I love doing crazy stuff, especially if it involves adventure or being stupid. I also like hanging out with friends and going to movies and parties, but I also like keeping up with work and sometimes just relaxing and doing nothing after some hard work, or some hard fun :

I am currently attending the University of California Santa Barbara.I am originally from San Diego CA, where I hope to one day live again after I have experienced life in other cities/countries. I really enjoy meeting new people and exploring what I have yet to see in Santa Barbara. I enjoy all music and absolutely LOVE dancing. I am not a professional of any sort, I took dance classes when I was younger, but that is about it. I truly miss performing, which is why I like to entertain my friends with imitations and silly dances.

I'm a culture sponge. I love music, movies and art, good books, good food and good conversation. I go to shows and always keep my ticket stub. I watch fancy cable TV dramas that win Emmys and get bad ratings. I like my comic books spare and arty and preferably European, or at least Canadian.

I recently moved to Santa Barbara for my job and am interested in seeing the best it has to offer. I am an avid sports fan (go Blazers!), am always looking for a good laugh and love mini-adventures.

I like finding out the history of sayings/phrases, doing something unexpected and singing my heart out in an empty house (even though I can't sing).

I am laid back, always willing to help a friend out, and love camping.

I am a very calm and mellow person, I really try not to get angry and just enjoy my day. I love doing physical activities, playing sports, hiking, biking, I'm always up for that. Reading, I have to do that a lot at school, but I must admit that I enjoy it, especially when it has to do about world conflicts, politics and economics. I also like the works of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Borges, todos los del Boom latinoamericano. I can be both reserved and extrovert, depends on how comfortable I feel in the situation, but for the most part I am somewhere in the middle. Really like Capoeira, when you meet me for more than a few days you'll realize my obsession.

I like to explore philosophy and truth. I am a typical Californian. I'm an artist and an athlete. I feel life should be easy. I think we should all live in a state of Celebration, but still get our work done.

I'm originally from Orange County and I'm a full-time student. I've been in Santa Barbara for about a year. I love meeting new people and doing new things. I enjoy a ton of different things: philosophy, rock climbing, going out, exploring, hanging out with friends, and of course... partying my face off.

What's crackn friends? I completed my pre-doctoral internship at UCSB Counseling Services last year and decided to stay in Santa Barbara because I enjoy the small town feel. I am originally from south San Diego (Imperial Beach) and consider myself to be honest, open, and confident.

I enjoy dancing, breaking bread with friends and family, and being outdoors. I also relish the opportunity to go camping, head out of town for weekend getaways, and hold a special place for people that keep up with politics (get active in campaigns) as well as watch CSPAN (British House of Commons), Countdown with Keith Olbermann, and my favorite, Rachel Maddow.

I am also an avid Chargers and Padres fan!

I don't read for pleasure as often as I would like. I am currently reading "La Ley del Amor;" when inspired I do a bit of painting with acrylics.
